Subject re Auras/Vodur
While I wouldn't oppose that, that would be a nice buff to controlling spellups and I don't know if all that is warranted. Shielding just affects shielding and I see no reason why you should be stuck using one type the majority of the time. They really scream flexibility to me and they've just never had that. Not only do you get to manipulate enemy vulns, but also enemy damtypes as you can resist their damage a bit with the right aura. Renewal and the natural duration of auras kind of get in the way of this. Heck, even if we made them last 3-5 ticks I think that'd be wonderful. It is a spell you can cast in combat, so you don't have to worry about going without an aura in longer fights. Select Cancelation would of course be a solution, and a chance of a random spell being knocked is worth the risk, but then you also get the advantage of having Haste whenever you want (and don't want). I've not used Haste on SirLance for years because I don't think it's worth getting in the way of my regen per ticks, especially when using a Firebrand, and again, working up renewals on a full spellup. Even with nearly maxed Slow, Haste is very hard to knock off knock off yourself*, and you also risk the change of not only knocking off Haste but Slowing yourself too in one cast. Frenzy is another one people would like to specifically target. Ahazus after just a few levels should pretty much never want that. Mana Shield could be flipped on and off more readily, and I think that is a type of spell that also fits well in where you need to decide when you turn it on and deal with how long it may be affecting you for. This would also allow people to knock out important spells with 0-2 ticks remaining sooner, which would be nice for big groups. Gets annoying waiting for everyone to be fully spelled (with enough duration;for a big fight) because you get a domino effect--once you wait for Member A's spells to wear, another one is almost surely needing to wait a tick or two as well. While I'd be happy to have a way around these nuisances personally, those nuisances have been a part of our balance so to speak and I'm not sure we deserve all that.
